The X-Rated Secret Behind the Velociraptor Sounds in Jurassic Park

In Jurassic Park, the velociraptors sounded every bit as unsettling as they looked, but how these sounds were created is more funny than scary. No one knows exactly what dinosaurs sounded like. This left Jurassic Park’s sound designer, Gary Rydstrom, to get creative with his approach to their vocalizations. For the T-Rex, Rydstrom used a mix of elephant, alligator, and tiger sounds, adding a pinch of his own Jack Russel, Buster, for good measure.
